Exclusions Across Star Health Plans

  • During the initial 30 days from the commencement of the policy date, diseases contracted by the insured individual. This exclusion will not be applicable in the case of the insured individual who is already covered under any other individual plan or any group health insurance plans for a nonstop period of previous 12 months without any break
  • Treatment or surgery for tooth unless those were required due to an accident caused needing hospitalization. Implantation of the tooth is also not covered
  • Recuperation, general weakness, or rest cure, lack of Nutrition conditions
  • Disorders in Mental, Psychiatric, and behavioural state
  • Deliberate self-damage
  • Intoxication, use of drug or alcohol, tobacco chewing and smoking

Star supports both cashless claims and reimbursement claims. This section covers the information on how to check Star health insurance claim status, fill Star health insurance claim form, and the claim settlement process.

  1. Visit the insurance desk of the network hospital
  2. Display the ID card for the purpose of identification
  3. The Network hospital will verify the identity post which the pre-authorization form is submitted to the insurance company

Star Health Insurance Renewal Process

A health insurance policy usually stays valid for 1 year after which it requires renewal. However, there are plans which offer 2 to 3 years of validity at extra costs. If a health insurance policy is not renewed timely, it lapses and the policyholder loses all the accumulated benefits. Moreover, there is a renewal window of 7-30 days beyond the policy tenure to allow policyholders a grace period to renew the plan and to protect the continuity benefits such as the waiting period and NCB or No Claim Bonus.


Here, you may also note that for every claim-free year, Star Health insurance policyholders can avail of an NCB of 50% on the sum insured, which can go up to a maximum of 100%.
